Wedge Flow Sensor — BF20
BF20 wedge flow sensor fills the long-standing gap in metering city gas and natural gas with sharply varying flow (tens of times over time), and breaks through the measurement of high-viscosity liquids such as tar, asphalt, residual oil, paraffin oil and crystallizing oils, as well as strongly corrosive saturated/oversaturated acid, alkali and salt solutions.

Working Principle
Comprises the wedge element, tappings, a 3-valve manifold and a DP transmitter (4–20 mA output). When the full pipe flows past the wedge, a ΔP develops between the upstream and downstream taps; after square-root processing the value equals the flow. Combined with pressure/temperature transmitters it forms a high-accuracy measurement system for gas, liquid and steam.
Key Features
- V-shaped wedge points downward so suspended particles and viscous liquid do not stall or settle upstream or downstream — long-term accuracy
- Simple and reliable, no moving/wear parts, long service life; symmetric, measures bidirectional flow
- Handles high viscosity (≤500 mPa·s), crystallization, corrosion, suspended solids and long fibres, plus high-dust gas
- 0.5% accuracy, 0.15% repeatability, up to 33:1 turndown
