Turbine Meters for Batching and Custody Transfer
Strengths of the turbine meter
- High turndown with ±0.5% reading accuracy over a wide range
- Very fast response for repetitive batching cycles
- Low pressure drop and small footprint for skids
Sizing for transfer duty
- Size so the operating flow sits between 40% and 80% of the meter capacity — the sweet spot for linearity.
- Keep at least 10D upstream straight pipe or add a honeycomb flow conditioner.
- Match the meter to the liquid's kinematic viscosity; light hydrocarbons work best.
Proving and certification
For custody transfer, meters are flow-proved on our calibration rig and can ship with a CNAS calibration certificate. We also explain how to set the K-factor on the flow computer after verification.
Batching tips
- Use the pulse output for high-resolution counting
- Avoid air entrainment: mount so the line stays full
- Schedule recalibration every 12 months for trade metering
