Electromagnetic Flow Meter Selection Guide
When to choose an electromagnetic meter
- Conductive liquids such as water, waste water, acids and slurries
- Pipes that run full of liquid without entrained gas
Key configuration steps
- Confirm the liquid is conductive (roughly above 5 µS/cm)
- Choose liner by media: PTFE for chemicals, rubber for clean water
- Select electrode material to withstand the media
Sizing rules of thumb
- Keep flow velocity between 1 and 4 m/s
- Match the meter to the line size in most cases
- Allow 5D upstream and 2D downstream straight pipe
